My vision, shared by few.
Look at SCTA. Control Fuel makes life easy.
Eventually as a club we will come to a point where a "control fuel" will suddenly make a bit more sense.
Having bought it up in the past and given lots of options, apathy in general has stopped it happening yet.
When club members in general agree we will get to a point where we have a semi sponsored fuel supplier that will supply a control fuel that is affordable. (ie much cheaper than real race fuel and not much more than premium pump)
We will have it available to dyno with. It will be a better fuel for engines than "pump gas" because it will be a bit higher octane than we can buy.
It will eliminate us all taking home excess expensive race fuel or being limited to pump crap and not getting the best from our engines.

It will be legal!!!!!!!!!!

My vision, and eventually we as a club will get to this point. Btw suppliers have already committed to make us whatever fuel we specify, "we really want the contract".
We as a club can make this happen in the future but we need to think together as a group and plan it ahead.
Most of us are "Lone Wolves" and control freaks in our own sheds preferring to do our own thing, but on this point we can work together, save ourselves big bucks and run hard.
Its a win/win provided you want an even playing field in the future.

My .02cents worth and too late for this year but easy doable if we choose one day.

Hopefully that will be the case. Until then I want to run the highest octane pump gas I can. Why run 98 if I can run 100?

I didnt think it was that hard a question. If Gas is going to be tested surely its not too much to ask what is legal to run and what isnt.

Gas testing is fine and dandy but its not just a dieletric test or an SG test. Its such a minefield and long term will only end in arguments and disgruntled racers. What comes out of a pump in Melb may be different than what we buy in Brisbane, same brand, same fuel.
That's the problem the scrutineers are facing so I'd imagine why you can't get a straight answer. It will also test different shipment to shipment
Control fuel will be the future solution and we won't have to go though this sh#t

All good points Chris. How can some one be refused a record or disqualified when there isnt a black and white rule. Do we need to wait until there is a control gas or at least a list of gas you can use?

I'm sure there will be some reasonable leniency and we will work with an understanding that this is a work in progress and a progression to tighter control in the future.
Provided everyone is racing within the spirit of the rules I don't think there will be problems.

What method is going to be used to check the Gas and what is the Max. allowable level?

This shouldn't be this hard.

Petrol is for washing parts .....alky for drinking .......nitro for racing ..........I avoid this problem by running fuel only .....seriously Chris is spot on about a supplier of event petrol and fuel ......when I was the bike scrut I organised several times with a supplier to do just this ....brought it up several times at meetings ....no one seemed interested or wanted it.....so I gave up as did the supplier .......maybe one day it will happen, sure would beat dragging the fuel with you and in my case having 2x55"s of methanol and one of nitro sitting in the shed for years on end ( mostly because of cancelled events or not being able to attend when its a goer)

cheers

Ross Brown is your Chief Inspector, I'd say this is a pretty good answer.
ROSS BROWN wrote:Yes ..
We are looking at trialing "IMPOUND " this year.
Basically just checking that you have classed your bike correct..which will include checking "GAS" class bikes to ensure that they should not be running in
" Fuel " class.
As the man power is not yet available to be pullling engines down , that will not be undertaken unless someone lodges an official paid protest..

Time in impound should be no more than half an hour..

Ross.
