Re: Compound Supercharged Turbocharged 125cc
Melted a piston on Wednesday and I think 89mph but I am not 100% on the speed. They had 3 spare slugs but I didn't see the bike again which was a bugger, I was hanging out for the nitro run!!!
Definitely my favorite vehicle of the meet, so far outside the square and well presented too.
Turbocharged, supercharged, intercooled, water cooled head and air shifted... then there was the father and son team aspect of the operation.

I owe, I owe, so off to work I go.
Re: Compound Supercharged Turbocharged 125cc
Major fuel supply issues, only managed 81.5 MPH. Would have probably been quicker if the guts of the blower and turbo were removed. 1.2 L/min flow through the float bowl obviously isn't anywhere near enough. Injection for next year.
Re: Compound Supercharged Turbocharged 125cc
That is an awesome beast. Truly an inspiration.
Bravo!

dplecko,
Sounds like you're onto it already, I'll be looking out for you and your son next year!
Cheers,

My vote for best enginered Bike of the meet if we had an award.
Everywhere you looked at it was a bit gob smacking. Fitting all that stuff in such a small package, well done guys.

Yeh, M84. Complete overkill but something that could be used on other projects.
Re: Compound Supercharged Turbocharged 125cc
Just found probably a major contributing factor to the melted piston. Today just checked my well known high end brand fuel pressure regulator and the ratio is more like 0.8:1 not 1:1. Results in not much effective fuel pressure at high boost. To top it off the gauge i originally tested the boost reference to the regulator with has 5 PSI error, bit of problem when the base carby pressure was 5 PSI. So might of had 1.2 liters per minute at 5 PSI but at boost would have significantly less.
Re: Compound Supercharged Turbocharged 125cc
The fuel pressure regulator manufacturer has recently upgraded their seat design of the regulator, I have one now and it is significantly better as you can see in the datalog below, the new (red trace) regulator has much control, ignoring the transients and is almost exactly 1:1 boost referenced. fuel_press_CALC is simply fuel pressure - manifold pressure.

Here's that bloody boost gauge again:

Since added an ice inter-cooler with very good results, particularly in the mid range. Also a lot more consistent (no heat soak). Still learning the tuning and still on pump gas.
