Well with our receival centres closed for Australia day i had the chance to go for a ride, Kim also was free, and we took a leasurely ride

over the new Falls to Anglers rest road and on up to Benambra
The lake has lots of potential, but needs prep, from what i can tell the surface is a hard clay in the most part ,some was under water at the moment and we gave that a wide berth, the shallow end where the benambra air strip is has a silty layer that is too soft and would chop up quickly accellerating , but would do for the braking /runoff area
i think it would need grading ,wetting & rolling for a usable surface, and probably have to treat it like they do at El Mirage and have a large area prepared but only use 1/2 at a time changing at lunch break
Issues that could complicate include potential dust prob for the town as its right on the lake edge ,noise which may not be that bad if we run from the far end toward the town end
rather than a new area we could look at it as extending the airstrip and keep enviromental concerns to a minimum
