Are we RACERS or Politicians

Sorry guys but maybe its just me?

I have just read the race schedule and I see the "Commitee" must have voted that the AGM shall be held at 4pm on Tuesday of Speedweek.

With well over 300 entries most having missed RACING for several years we are effectively sacrificing very valuable RACING time to hold a bloody AGM in very valuable DAYLIGHT on what should be the busiest RACE day of Speedweek.

If I am alone in my point of view here well please point it out to me.

I thought being an elected member as Chief Starter maybe I might have had a vote on such a critical decision to sacrifice RACING TIME for Politics but obviously the "commitee" only includes the select few.

Personally I am pissed off at such stupidity.
Our one week a dry year to RACE.

What a crazy time to hold a meeting ! It needs to be held after 7pm at the earliest, as you said Chris, wasting valuable daylight on the busiest day of speedweek is madness. Unfortunately I won't be there, but I suggest that everyone just keeps racing, there will be plenty of you there to stand up for yourselves.

Madness ? Sure is !!! We gotta get this changed , am all for the meeting on the lake bed,BUT after the last pass of the day,say 5.30-6.00.

Another reason the structure of the association needs to change. We should have a DLRA Board (made up of officials from all areas, Start , Timing , Tech , etc) , that is involved in making decisions that affect the meet.

Cheers , Bob.

Frozen cool pops, cowboy shooters, orange whips and a after dinner mint will sort the fireys
so now we need to sort the starters, timers ,ect
{there is a mad kangawallafox seen at the camp eats people who sleep in]
so now its up to every one to get people moving

Animal

When I was chief timer, Jack Daniels was the currency used for bribing me, but now Cookey is in the chair, any Chateau Cardboard should do the trick!

Just heard from Bob,
He is in Port Augusta and had just had dinner with Cled.
Cled has changed the AGM from 4pm Tuesday to 12.00 Noon.
He is adament that it will be held at this time and this is Cleds decision. Our normal lunch break on the salt is 1 hour.

Form your own opinion as to whether this is a wise decicion or not.
It will certainly mean we loose at least an extra hour of racing time.
This will leave Speedweek looking more like Speed 2 days with a late start Monday, an interupted Tuesday and an early finish Friday.

Do all of you who have invested a small fortune in TIME, DOLLARS and your LIFE to go RACING on our only available venue think this is a wise decision?

I will voice my opinion personally to Cled when I see him and having known him and respected him for many years I will give him my view and tell him I think he is wrong.
I also know him well enough to realise that he will neither change his decision or think it nessasary to explain his reasoning for this decision.

To all other racers and I know a lot read this and don't reply please think about this thread.
It would be a great shame if this club put Politics and Bullshit before Racing.

If the President won't change his mind, maybe it's time to change the President!

I think the mentality of it is that he can get a quorum together...

But then interested parties will be able to make the 7k trip out to the DLRA camp anyway and you don't need spectators at an AGM! It's a ridiculous idea when it is following on from 2 years of rained out speedweeks and a huge crowd of racers that are desperate for runs.

How about making the first motion to postpone the meeting to a more reasonable time? I don't think the meeting will go for long after that. I also cant see the meeting going forward if the officials leave to get the event back on track.

It would be very nice to race when we can and have the AGM when we can't.

I suggest everyone keeps racing, no attendees, no meeting. Don't let one man screw the week up ! It was time for a new president last year, this stupidity just proves it.
