200 MPH Achievers

Post by DLRA »

I've added a list to the 200MPH page which I've called the 200MPH Achievers.
Now the purpose of this list firstly is to recognise those people who have run 200MPH or better at Lake Gairdner.

NOTE: This is a different criteria to the Bonneville 200MPH Club as it stands now.
These DLRA rules for the 200MPH club were extracted from the SCTA rules as they stood in 1998.
Since that time things have changed a bit and we also have more information.
The existing 200MPH club is not part of the SCTA, they have their own membership, fee and by-laws (including what qualifies you for entry)
Probably the biggest change or diference between our rule and the Bonneville 200MPH Club is the inclusion of these words "or meet a 200 MPH Club Minimum' which I'm assuming means you must do at least 200MPH and the fact that it's "two consecutive runs at an average speed of 200 m.p.h.". Their by-laws also state that membership is "automatic"

There has been discussion about the DLRA 200MPH club in the past and I would now like us ( the membership) to come to an agreement once and for all on what it is we want.
The idea kick this around here and then be in a position to propose a motion at the next AGM (23 March 2011).

There are actually several proposals or questions to be answered;
Do we want the DLRA to run a 200MPH club or list?
What would constitute being eligble for the this club or list?
Does the DLRA want to recognise these people in some way? And what would that be?

I've added a poll to this post to collect some of this information. NOTE: You can go back and change your vote.
Keep the shiney side up........

I think the "must be record" is designed to add some exclusivity to classes where the speeds regularly go over 200mph, plenty of classes in the US need 250+ to get a red hat (actually, can we get a hat?)
Though honestly I'm biased as a member of our 200mph club. (maybe I'll buy a hat and a texta  )

at bonneville they have 561 entries going for and many exeeding 200 mph . we dont have those numbers so its my opinion that 200mph "is " an achievement for a competitor and thus deserves a token "club " . paul penny

G'Day Don, the red hat is being taken care of and was one of the reasons why we are working through this now. It looks like we will get a consensus that I can then take to the AGM to change the rule, I would expect this to be retrospective, so all those on the 200MPH Club page would qualify.

The 150MPH club was something that I just put up on the web site back when 150 was something special, these days it seems to have lost it's relevance a bit, so will probably just drop this.

I'm pretty sure there will be one blue hat made as well..

Because we are alinging with the SCTA rules, is this the reason for a "Red" hat, could we not have a colour that represented our country,, maybe baggy green  ,,,, all other Landspeed orginisations have their own designated colour,,,,
First Australian to ride a motorcycle over 200mph at Bonneville,,,

After reading Robs post I was going to suggest an Akubra with a Fly screen  but the baggy green would be good with a logo on it some how.

There's one class you have to do 417 to get a red hat

Green hat, not baggy

Then when I asked, "what's the point?"

Well if we're gonna get silly with it....

How about a red fez for 200 and the pointy green one for 300?

I actually vote for the green (200) and gold (300). Dennis Campbell has already had a red Lake Gairdner 200 club hat made up as a sample. It caused a minor stir at Bonneville. I overheard a conversation between some bloke and Dan Warner (the poobah of SCTA red and blue) they initially thought it was a counterfeit and then saw the Lake Gairdner name on it and said "Cool"...

If you don't want to over lap an already used colour the ECTA use green.

The El Mirage "dirty" red hat is actually a burgandy sort of colour, what about our hat depicting a flavor of the red countryside ,
