did you get the T110 head?
what transmission mods are you doing? swapping out to a later 5 speed cluster??

Hi Steve
Yes, Spooks going to bring the head over in March, if his wife lets him come.
Just going to run a 4 speed to start with, don't know if a 5 speed would really be necessary considering you have 2 miles (I think) to get up to speed.
Off to Adelaide on the 12/13 for the All British Day, hoping to find a heavy crank and set of barrels while I'm down there.

A bit more progress on the Salt Lake Racer
Had a couple of trips to Adelaide lately which have filled in a few more bits of the jigsaw.
Visited Murrays Brit Bikes and picked up a heavy weight crank and a set of barrels on the first trip.
And on the second trip we visited Bill's Bits and Bikes at Birdwood and now have a set of primary cases, rocker boxes and a few other sundry bits.
The wife has also bought me a K2FC magneto for my birthday, which I'll tell her about when it arrives from the US
Just a matter now of filling in the internal bits.
Plan is to have it running by the time of the Pt Augusta Motorshow on Oct 22 this year.

The pictured bike is a 249 Indian 500 twin that am currently restoring for a customer.
They are very similar to look at ,apart from the drive trains switching sides'

The Indian is a bit of a rarity out here, I don't recall ever having seen one in the flesh before.
Exhaust pipes? At this stage I'm thinking low pipes with mega's.
For the first year (2012) I'm aiming for a cross between Tiger 110 and T100C spec to see how it handles, how the riding position feels, etc.
Then work on making it go a bit faster each year, first on gasoline, then maybe move up to fuel.
I guess the ultimate goal is to see if I can get anywhere near matching the benchmark below, set in 1954 (Class A is fuel).

After the disappointment of Speedweek being cancelled I decided to ad a bit of colour to the bike to brighten myself up.

A bit more progress, actually started on some engine work now.
Started cleaning up and polishing rocker gear and boxes.


Inlet rocker gear ready for assembly. Rocker arms lightened and polished and adjusters lightened. Have reduced weight by about 14g per rocker arm. Also made up some spacers to replace the rocker arm locating springs.


Assembled exhaust rocker box.


Also done some work on the oil tank. It had a small dent in the side, so by making it much bigger I'll be able to tuck my leg in a further 3/4"

Next update. Not as much progress as hoped due to having started work on the shadehouse that was supposed to be finished `before' I started working on the bike. I have finally found a good set of std bore barrels from the US on e-bay. Have also bought a set of pistons (US), a new 3134 cam (Oz), new valves and springs (UK) and h/bar levers (Oz).

Barrels and head have been blasted and painted


I have made a bracket to mount the lanyard kill switch to.


And also bought some tank transfers from Wizard Motorcycles in Brisbane who made them to the size I wanted

That 'ol Trumpy sure brings back memories Mossy,,,,
My 'ol mate Spotty Burke had "sponsorship" , Triumph sent out 6 pairs of 3134 cams,(in the 50's) of which ony 1 set read perfectly, the rest needed fiddling with tappet clearances to get 'em "right", but they never were "right" when it came to the winning.
Be sure to secure those flash looking tappet inspection caps, 'cos they love to vibrate off.

Heres a couple of pics with it pieced together with an empty engine, just to see how it looks.
Next week should be a bit like Xmas and birthday all rolled into one as I'm expecting a new rear rim and spoke set, engine bits including new conrods, cam, cam followers, gaskets, main and big end bearings, valve guides, bolts, handgrips, cables and a few other bits and pieces from various places around the world.
Then when I'm down for the Classic Speedway on the 29th Oct I hope to pick up anything else I need. Won't be ready to ride by Tailem Bend but I'm planning on having it ready to start early November and rideable by the end of Noevember.





Couldn't resist this sticker I found on ebay a few weeks ago, I've been assured it will add at least 3-5 mph to the top speed
