I think you're right about Tom Evans
There aint much he doesn't pick up on
I spent Bonneville speedweek at motorcycle tech this year and learned quite a lot from him

I often wonder how Tom learned so much. Did he learn by doing or seeing? : - )

But I'm grateful he's there and hope he will be there for a lot longer. He keeps us honest.

Here we are with this weeks installment
Image
engine plates are done and engine is mounted. Chassis mounts been set so we can fit a TZ350--hence the large engine plates.
and the sprockets line up. This engine has the reed valve in the cylinder so I turned it around and
will bring the pipe out over the back wheel. Also leaves plenty of room for an airbox for the carb.
Image
turned up a steering stem and fitted the forks.
forks are off one of those 150 thumsters, shortened to 50mm travel. Front wheel is off a gpz 250
with a 125 road race slick

stay tuned
cheers Bones

I'm back on line with medium fast
Alex's bike is progressing -- started it last weekend--- made some noise 1st pull of the rear wheel.
Only ran it for a short time as it has no radiator. He will get it mounted this week and we will gige it a better run on the weekend.
Sounds like a GIANT angry mozzie

Alex has done verry well with the welding and fabrication. The pipe turned out a treat. This learning curve is flattening out a little.
BUT he is on the steep part of the fiberglass curve.
The alloy rod came out of the engine. They are prone to braking. The fella who gave me the engine found 2 standard steel rods.
Had them crack tested (both good)and shotpeened one.
Just need a few more bits (bigend, piston pin, bearings...)and it's right to go together.

The alloy rod will look much better in my trophy cabnet than hanging out the front of the cases

The yammy started first pull of the back wheel. Neighbour shouted something over the fence about a giant mozzy
It will be ready for speedweek--only need to finish the seat, paint the frame, fit another tacho( $20 krober failed) tyres and valve stems and----
seat on the yamaha

The weslake is another story, it is a REAL TEST
second hand rocker turned up cracked
was supplied 2 new ones-- one of these doesn't fit (weslake changed bearing length as they developed the engine)
the new one is on the way.The guy in the states I've been getting parts from so good at getting bits too me.
rods are not available in standard length (4mm shorter) but a mate gave me a couple of old standard ones, crack test ok and shotpeened
bigends are not available so machine new sleve for the rod and grind the pin hole for one which is available. The bonus is the bigend is now available off the shelf .The crank should be done this weekend
If all this lot doesn't go together I am bringing a hyabussa and run it naked.
seat on the weslake
