Front brake can stay for the moment , anything thats going to mask that giant square block of an engine can stay
even if its only minimal.
If the fever gets hold and I start fevering real bad , I'll take the calipers off and turn the rotors around backwards as they are slightly conical in shape and will also assist in pushing the wind outwards as well .
But I'm not that serious ........ YET......
what ever the outcome after 25 years of speedway with no brakes , I wont be in any rush to pull on that front lever.
By the way Vespa is PX 125 E

My suggestion was going to be.
take the front brakes off
run the hose from the front master cylinder to the back brakes
you don't have to move around to use them and it's handy when you're getting it out of the trailer

Good sugestion Grumm .... But to late ...right or wrong , already half way down the other road....
NEXT : Gear shift bits roughed in ,as is the metal chain guard
Do have a 530 /17 tooth front sprocket .. It is from a 92 /93 ZZR 1100 this was chosen because of its huge offset ,Kawasaki offset this model only ,because of the introduction of wider rear tires , after this model Kawasaki extended the output shaft ..removing the need for the offset.
Problem is............ 17 tooth was the only available sprocket choice... So gearing adjustments are limited to the rear wheel Currently I have a 42 and a 46 rear sprocket .. AM I IN THE BALL PARK ?

What HP at rear wheel do you estimate , partially streamlined or naked ,,, will do some sums when infomation is given,

Just done some quick calculations,,,, used the 1000J gearbox specs @ 1.732 primary, 1.040, 5th,,,, @9000rpm with 17/46 will give you "around" 137mph, with the 17/42, 150 mph,,, i would say with 130 at the wheel, and good salt you should be looking at close to 145mph,,, ,,, Roland has the record at 143.666 on a CBX Honda,

Carburators are currently geting the methanol make over.
Written onto the bench is the basic drill sizes for the change (metric)
Now for some handy methanol hints....
Try and refrain from siphoning with mouth.... It tastes terrible & no amount of coke will make it taste any better..
Don't leave helmet lying upside down on the floor next to the bike when filling the tank... doesn't matter how much you methanol you think youve sponged back out of the helmet, by the time you get to the start line you'll have turned into quite the madman.
And don't you and the dog be standing in puddles of it when working on the ignition

funny when you swallow petrol you can burp it back for days ----- stopped doing that a while ago ---- race fuel has a better burp factor
on a serious note a bloke in Adelaide died recently after swallowing deisel while siphoning ---- had major organ failure
trouble with your distilled fuel is you cant see it burn ----- how was the dog ???
not many sleep now

My dad was in the Navy and he said all his mates fillings fell out from mouth priming fuel siphons...

Harky, The dogs good...ish
We could see the flame all right,it was night time and a pretty blue flame it was ,
During the course ove the event,found myself running for the sink with burning carburators in hand with feet also on fire
The "DOG" well he was so busy saving himself he took nothing Just bolted in the other direction out the front door with blue and yellow flames emitting from his hairy flea bitten feet. (wouldn't come back in the shed for a couple of hours ) Now every time he hears an electric holley fuel pump wirring over he's instantly out to the front door watching in

Ross that reminds me of our dog , that pissed on the poorly insulated welding cable, ever since will not stay in the workshop if the welder is on , i still laugh and cringe as i think about it ..

...few understand what I'm trying to do , but they vastly outnumber those who understand why..
