Now that you have read the Gordon Jennings 2 stroke book you should pick up a copy of "Motorcycle Tuning"/Two-Stroke written by John Robinson. If you are in Melbourne and cant get it you can have a lend of mine.....Cheers..Russell. That bloody well reminds me,I lent "Tuning for Speed" to a mate in NSW a year ago and the bastard returned it. I better give him a phone call tonight. LOL.

what's wrong with the original manifold ?
What are you using to seal the steel manifold to the carb-- o ring on the carb grove?
Maybe something off another bike like an rs125 honda.
The fairing is a good start but read the rule book and go for the best bodywork you can
The record is 125 and i'm looking to bump it some mext year

Oh man, when my house was broken into a few years back, some discerning thief took about two feet of books from my bookcase including tuning for speed, motorcycle engineering, Boeing Jet engine manuals, all 3 john Robinson books..... bastiges!!

HI Guys

i have tuning for speed aswell as numerous other journals on the matter. but there is a wealth of empirical information on the rs125 engine in the online forums from the uk, hence why i chose that engine because of its support.

i am pretty set on what the engine components are going to be, and we will be getting a full custom exhaust made up soon enough, and after that dyno and then wind tunnel testing and tuning.

original manifold is designed for a 28mm carb, i am running a 40mm, so if i bored it out there would be nothing left!

we have a rubber o ring groove in the manifold and carb, it seals pretty well with the right size o-ring.

the fairings we have are made specifically for dry lakes racing, they may require some modification, but not enough to warrant looking for a different set.

i think i have graham bells book, or at least one of them. i dont make note of the author, just get the good info out of it.

According to the DLRA website for Speedweek 2009 http://www.dlra.org.au/2009.htm :

SO we are doing the dash and electronics now,

just wondering about the kill switches............do i need a killswitch on the bars which i can operate without moving my hand? i already have a toggle ignition switch on the dash and the wrist lanyard.

The engine is stock honda rs125. Stock carb is 38
It's got a pipe on it off a kart. I am going to do some testing with the stock pipe and the kart pipe and use the better one on the bike.
I thnk you'll be ok with the lanyard and the toggle switch.

Took it to Bonneville and siezed it.
But it did ride nicely at 112.
