SPEED WEEK CANCELLED !!!

UNFORTUNATELY DUE TO WET CONDITIONS<THERE IS NO ALTERNATIVE BUT TO CANCEL THE MEET<THIS WAS CONFIRMED BY INSPECTION TODAY<
The lake currently has 8"of water standing on it,major 'pot holing 'in the surface,the road in was good but the track is a no go.

Speed week is definetly OFF,I posted this as soon as we heard from the guys down there, as Greg Wapling was no where near a computer,GW should be updating the main page any minute, Some photos may be posted from Cookie as soon as he is in mobile phone range,Sorry guys and gals but the weather has beaten us again.

Just to let everyone know what happened today.
I got a phone call from Cled just before noon, "post a message - Speedweek is definately on" so I update the forum, thd web site home page and the 2012 Speed Week page and Facebook.
And off I go to keep building a deck for my daughter.
Then about 2pm I get a call from Tony Cooke on the DLRA Camp phone "its off, theres water on the lake and potholes everywhere".
I honestly thought he was joking and when I realised he wasnt I nearly fell of the ladder.
I rang Cled straight way and told him to ring Tony at the camp and then get back to me to confirm ( I did not get that call). Next call was Bob Ellis confirming the cancellation I told him I wouldnt be able to make changes this I got home. He rang me back a short time later to say he had posted the cancellation on the forum. By that time Carol had posted on Facebook and I updated the website as soon as I got home at 5pm.
I'm sorry for the confusion but it was not of my making and was corrected as soon as we could.
I know and understand that many people are disappointed but remember we are too.

Thanks everyone for making the effort and taking the time to go out to the lake and have an inspection in time for us all to change plans.

I think i might go and have a quiet rum now and stare at dave's bike.

A day of highs and lows....

Excited that speedweek was looking like a goer this morning. A bit down when I found out that a colleague has been diagnosed with a terminal illness. Then the phone call from Rob to say it was off...

At least I wasn't going to race. I feel for the guys & girls who've built cars & bikes expecting their first trip, and those who've been dozens of times before.

Doesn't matter when you run it, or how often, there'll always be Murphy & the weather.

If life chucks you a googly, try your best to belt it for six, you never know what's around the corner.

We're probably heading that way anyway, might see a few there for commiseration drinks. Might even get to Caths Castle as I never seem to when I'm there for the event.

To all the others who are looking for something else to do next week now, I'll catch up in 2013.
