The easter bunny's been
Laslo's oil leak solving ceramic hybrid bearings arrived last week, unfortunately, on of 'em appears to have been stored in a grain silo,,there's a replacement on it's way, & I plan on bench running the troublesome bearing in the drill press, just incase I have to use it
I'm still not sure how many of the team will be available for the potential late May date ?

I will be there without a bike if you want a hand in the pits Tiny, not real sharp but I can lift heavy stuff.

The reason I used hybrid ceramic bearings RGV,is they don't need any lube, other than the lube they are assembled with, leak solved,,,,RGV wrote:Looks great Tiny, hope the new seal works.

Yep they look like a great idea, some pretty impressive vids on youtube. Ive heard a ceramic bearing is worth 250 watts so 4 bearings (wheel bearings in a bike) = 1 kw. But the top of the line are around $175 each.

All the past problems have been cured, but another has developed,,,IT HATES THE COLD !
1st off, it wouldn't start today,,the old battery voltage drop V's CDI struggle reared it's ugly head.
The battery is left over from the postie's last run in '10, so its gotta go, I've got a new one in stock, but don't want to fill it with acid just yet,,,,,
After putting the old one on charge while I went and perved on Frase' "new" 490 powered '38 Chev coupe (NICE !) and when I returned, I put a pocket full of left over Chev noise I stole from Frase, and Laslo loved that,,but run as rough as the Chev did, but for completely different reasons.
Because of my plenum / BOV design,,theres a nice little depression for any fuel that drops out of suspension to build up right at the bottom, and when it gets picked up by the passing good shit,,it tends to keep burning in the collector,,now, as nice as it looks, a blue / yellow flame leaping outa the exhaust at a high idle, it not a good thing.
I need to , yet again,,partially remove the blower to take the BOV plate of, and fit a bleed to it, AND, don't try and start it with a crook battery.
There goes yet another tentative test ride,,,,,,,

its always something Tiny but you have it by the balls mate I enjoy your build diary's always interesting and entertaining. When you live up near the snow line and run alchy its always a hard start. Hope you get the chance to run it on the big white dyno soon

Cat bearing mounting compound,,nil,,,pulley removal,,one.
They don't lie when they tell ya 400 degrees is the amount of heat required to make this crap let go,,lol.
The plenum bleed is a go-er, todays job is a fiddly one, re-fitting 2 x 6mm bolts to the blower lower mounts that do a great job of hiding under, and behind everything they can
Work has been doing it's best to keep me outa the shed the last couple of months, Lake G might be "plan A" this year (DRINK)

After using a formula posted on landracing forum (thanks fellas) It became obvious the solenoid valve would not let enough fuel through to keep the thirsty 250 happy, so I made a remote shutoff.
And got a british choke lever.
Now the flow has gone from .6 ltr/min , to 2 ltr/min.

So far, so good with the lanyard Grumm, ya gotta take the time to make sure the rubber fits properly over the lip on the switch body, the postie video shows the lanyard cord just wafting around in the breeze @ 78 mph.grumm441 wrote:I like the fuel shutoff

There's a fair chance a conrod will fly out before the lanyard flies off

g'day Tiny,, i have found that its not so much the wind that affects them Lenyards, more the vibrations ,high frequency vibs tend to make 'em fall apart, but, if it works forya,

Here is my $0.02 worth, had one of those switches sitting ( with others ) I have , had it about 6 months and the red cap split ------- she no work no more ----- it would really p----s you off if it happened @ the lake .
