are those darker areas water?
Yes, but that was back in March. Is there any relevance of that picture to the current condition of the salt?

The reason for waiting another 24 hours is, after today's inspection a band of rain came through & dumped on the lake. Due to the surface being so solid in the area picked for the track, a little rain should'nt be a problem. The guys just want to monitor it to be 100% sure. Pete . DLRA #6.

Doc those pics give a real good indication of the water history,
Maybe a few of these pics can be studied to see if there is a better position for future use .

Thanks guys.

Yep, there are 3 photos there from Friday and one from the start of March. There were patches of water around the perimeter of the lake when I went over.
On the original photos you can see different areas of shading on the lake - will be interested in discussing this with Plucka when he gets back.

Like Greg, I have been thinking about a photo journal of sorts of the lake. I can define a set altitude and position and take a photo at the same place every week or two. Would be a good way of recording the life cycle of the lake.

Oh, and in response to "Whats going to happen between now and tomorrow arvo?"
- They are going to get the 4wds unbogged as a starting point! Not joking.

Don't want to be too pessimistic - but there is significant rain forecast for the end of this week, and a high likelihood or rain next week......

Just had a phone call from Carol.
The rain date event is offically cancelled.
The inspection team went out again this morning and could not find enough good salt for even a shortened track. The rain that came through yesterday was still laying on the salt.
As has now be discovered, the problem with this time of the year there is not enough sun or wind to dry up or push around any water. From this experience it would be very unlikely that this time of the year would br consideted again.
Just to repeat Speed Week 2012 has been cancelled.
Keep the shiney side up........

Tough call but the right one in the circumstances.

A huge THANK YOU in appreciation of all the efforts that so many people have put in doing the lake inspections and also keeping us all informed through every type of communication. WE owe you a beer/wine or several. Next meeting....

Just came in from getting my bike back together. All ready for the next T&T i spose.

Thanx to all involved in trying to get us a run at the lake.

When is the next T&T and will it be at Tailem Bend on Lake Omeo?
