Farewell Sir Jack

Post by momec3 »

Sad to hear Sir Jack Brabham passed away today aged 88.

To say he was a significant member of Australian motor racing history would have be an understatement.
He was a legend of motorsport and an all round good bloke.
Godspeed Sir Jack.

It is sad news, he was such an inspiration and his extraordinary achievements hopefully will always be remembered.
RIP Sir Jack

I met Sir Jack in 1978
I was working @ Bathurst with a team who had a new semi transporter ( one of the first dedicated transporters)
It was about 2 AM , I was looking for something in the back of the transporter and this bloke scared the living be thing out of me by surprising me with questions about
the transporter ------ It was Sir JACK -------- even then he had 2 hearing aids ------ I stood stamming like a kid in front of the head master --- there was one of my heros
wandering about the pits @ Bathurst at 2 am
Still the only manufacturer and driver to win a GP
RIP Sir JACK

In my mind it was Jack and Repco that steered many into Motorsport in this country. Sir Jack will be missed. A true Gentleman of Racing.

Any one catch the "Talking Heads" interview with Sir Jack on ABC the other day? I was watching it and thought I recognised the car in the studio. Looked back through some pics of one of our Tailem Bend T & T days and I think it was Stuart Penn's (#304) dads car.
