I will be flying into Adelaide late morning on 6/3/09. Pick up troopy camper, go get some supplys and head for Lake G. I will be alone and the camper can sleep up to about 3. If anyone wants to share I am happy to look at that. I have booked to fly out of Adelaide on Thursday arvo 12/3/09 so will need to leave the lake early that morning.

At this stage I look like leaving melbourne early on saturday 7th. Is antone else going to be on the road to the salt at that time? If so keep your eyes peled for a high roof Iveco Daily van.

I'd love to be there earlier to help you, but I'm only riding shot gun.
Maybe you can find me something to do when we arrive 'late' :D

Travelling from the West

Post by Jeff lemon »

Greetings all

Just a quick note to let people coming from the West know you don,t need to go all the way to Iron Knob turnoff you can go in from Wirrula,Wudinna,or Kimba the road is the same if not better(less traffic) than the Iron Knob road, get hold of a good road map i think i went from Wudinna 06, just keep an eye out for the turnoff to the Lake as it will be on your left on a corner and easy to miss, i missed it!!see you there, can,t wait

We are leaving early Saturday am so will arrive about 2.00pm. As a first timer to the salt I don't mind telling you that Im a little excited, some how I think this will be the first of many salt journeys.

There's absolutely nothing to compare with the feeling - as you drift over the last rise on the sandy road in - to see the expanse of white stretching to the horizon.
Gets me every year. I've come to understand what spiritual pilgrimage is all about.

Talk about romancing the Salt, check out the Glen Freudenburger quote at the top of Landracing's home page...

Freud is a great contributor to the discussion of the salt, that explains why.
