Should I race this car???

Post by Stovebolt »

I want to, but as the top is not chopped, and its not streamlined in front of the cowl and it doesn't have a belly pan, it does not classify in Comp Coupe!

Its wheelbase is too long for the Altered class.

XO production - nope - so I gues that leaves /spl class, but thats open to roadsters!

bugger

Should I fit it out for racing, and roll up hoping it'll fit into a class?

I'd say go for it Mark, at least you'll never die wondering.

How many other blokes have got a car that's turned a wheel on the salt?
Just have to give it a bloody good clean when you get home.

If you have to run against the roadsters, just leave the glass out...
Keep the shiney side up........

Isn't the Gas Coupe class open to you?

G'day Mark,

I voted for option 4 .....

Whilst I also think it would be very cool to run the Coupe on the salt, I can't help NOT thinking of the old line "Rust never sleeps...."

Cheers,

unless it's in your sleep or comes from behind you'll always be wondering about something at that point I'd reckon Greg....Is that a train ?, I wonder if this is loaded ? should I unplug this first?, cancer , is that dangerous? does this chicken taste alright to you?

sounds like good advice to me , but while we're here does it have to be chopped to be CC??or just some of the req's......get racin'

You have to run Fenders to compete in Gas Coupe.

Re comp coupe - my coupe's wheel base is extended 9" over stock Model A, whereas Comp coupes need the wheelbase to be extended over 12".

Gordon, SCTA & DLRA rules are for racing cars, not passenger cars. Entirely different standards. If passenger cars broke traction at 195mph every time they were driven, they'd have mandatory roll cages too.

If the rules function but to exclude those who won't abide by them, cool.

Yes Gordie, its so obvious we are all but a joke and you know everything.
I'd suggest you start your own thread and offer more good advise for us poor misguided fools who put our lives on the line in crapped out old chariots. I'm sure if you put your name on the top of the thread you'll get lots of hits.
Goodby Gordie. I think I can hear you mummy calling.

GordonD, you obviously know it all, do me a favor, and tell me how you'd tackle plaiting your shite . then stick it back where the sun don't shine , along with your constant whinging.
Tact is not an underarm deoderant , but something we commonly use when chosing words to share with others , But you knew that too , ? ? ?

Sorry Stove, had to go of the track and be sarcastic to Gordie and forgot to say race the damn car already. Lifes to short. Must be a class for it.

Why not fit a bellypan? Not a permanent piece, but if that's all that's keeping you out of a class you'd like to race in, bolt it on. The car's mostly all there now, nearly ready to race. Mind you, it looks like a beautiful base for a serious street rod.

Yeah, bolt on a roll cage and a glass body and go race. Save the steel for the streetrod.
