Update on the FIM side of the WSTA

Post by DLRA »

Things have been moving so quickly in some areas and so slowly in others.
We now are listed on the FIM Calendar of events and we have an event number - 197/01.

I still don't have the entry form or supp regs for FIM. I ended up getting FIM Charlie involved and to his credit I did get a little murmur of action.

The big problem is the introduction by FIM of their own regulations for helmets with a new standard, FRHPhe-01.
This means that you need an FIM approved helmet to run any FIM event.
These helmets run out to $1500 - 2000, so it adds significant cost to anyone contemplating running WSTA.

The issue is there's not a lot to f&%k all of these helmets for purchase in Australia.
They are a special helmet and the average retail store is just not going to have them or is still trying to move last years stock, so they don't have the correct labels and tags. (as some have already found out) and the ones that are for sale are surplus to the international teams requirements.

So at the moment the hunt is on to try and find some suppliers in Australia.

Here is a list of the FIM certified helmets:
AGV Pista GP R Racing
AGC Pista GP RR
Airoh GP550
Arai RX-7V Racing
Arai RX-7X Racing
Bell Pro Star ECE
Cast Helmets CM6
HJC Helmets RPHA 01R
Kabuto RT-33
KYT NZ-RACE
LSR Helmets FF323 Arrow
MT Helmets KRE SNAKE CARBON
NHIK GP-R TECH
Nolan X-Lite X-803-P
Scorpion EXQ EXO-R1 FIM Racing #1
Shark Race R Pro GP FIM Racing #1
Shoei X-Fourteen
Suomy SR GP
