Nice work Alex, watch out ya father doesn't chain ya to that welder & pass ya food through a slot in the garage door.
Bones ,is that the new lay down Weslake or a you converting an old one? and what gear box is that ? looks to be AMC 4 speed but can't tell from this side.
mmmmm STREAMLINER in background .
Stop teasing me. that thing covering the front wheel makes a better sack than a window
COOL PROJECTS.

Hey Ross
The weslake is an upright engine but I am going to run it laying down.I thiught I would put a crank scraper above the flapper valves and hope the oil escapes.I've been told this should work. Also change the balance factor
a little info-
The steering head is 700mm high
wheel base is about 1700mm
front wheel -16''
rear wheel-19''
geabox -triumph 4 speed
forks-kr1 cut down 300mm

Interesting !
BONES
What class are ya looking at running.?
Interesting choice of rear wheel size . there's a huge choice of 19" race tires these days, often wonderd how well a shaved or fresh speedway tire would work on the salt.(depending on the tractability of the surface of the day)
I have a MITAS SW 05 in front of me at the moment ,but it doesn,t seem to have a speed rating on it.
Theres a lot of half worn ones thrown in the bin round here.
I do say ya gonna struggle with the float level on that mikuni, I'll keep my eyes peeled for a downdraught for ya.

Ross
classes will be A/PF 500
APS/PF 500
Alex A/G 100
I'm not going to use the mikuni. If you kould keep an eye out for a carb off a laydown engine would be good or I may use a lectron.
I'm pretty sure that if there is no speed rating on a tyre then it cannot be used.
I went with the 19'' wheel to have a longer contact patch to give better traction and give better sprocket sizes. Using avon 100/90/19V which is good for front & rear.
psteck
keep at it-- the salt gremlin can be beaten.
cheers Bones

Hey Bones. I'll be there in Sept. The Weslake in the Norton is getting a rest this year. I'll have the Weslake powered sidecar out. With a bit of luck it will be a 550cc (overbore to 90mm) Weslake running in the 650 class. I'll look forward to meeting you.
P.S. More build photos please.
P.P.S. Looking at the photos your Weslake seems to be one of the older long rods. The same as in the Norton. You'll definitely love it. Mine ran 129.817 at El Mirage a couple of years ago. The sidecar has has a later short rod. Equally loveable.
