I thought Pete cleared it up with his picture
And if we look at the pictures of Dave B's bike
The picture from the left side where we can see the rim is ok
However, the earlier picture from the right side where the rim is partially covered doesn't appear to comply with the rule

Re: Clearing up some rules for a Modified open bike
The bike was changed between first and second photo to lift the seat up to legal height.
We are still playing with it all at the moment and making sure we are compliant before we get to the lake thats all.

Yep it was a great explanation but was still Pete's interpretation of the rule. And it was right. I wanted something in writing from a club official or out of the rule book.grumm441 wrote:I thought Pete cleared it up with his picture"
Imagine turning up to the lake and being told that your bike didnt comply with rule # xyz. So ya cant race. "But (Whoever) said it would be OK" just wouldnt wash with the Tech scrutinering your bike.

Well
Pete wrote to the SCTA rule committee and got an answer

Rim and wheel mean the same thing. I know it would be easier if we used the same terms, maybe in next years rulebook we will.
The tire is the rubber only.
The diagrams you made are correct.
I hope this answers your question.
I cc'ed your DLRA motorcycle inspector Graham Hadley.
Let me know if you have any other questions,
Matt Shuss
Motorcycle Chief Inspector SCTA/BNI
We also look to see if your bike complies with our rules regarding classes, although it is up to you. see rule 1.A
However, you have made the journey all the way to lake and we would like to see you run
Cheers

Re: Clearing up some rules for a Modified open bike
Confusion Rains
Just got an update from Matt from SCTA
Peter,
My written answer was correct but I should have stated that your drawing was incorrect.
The wheel and rim are the same.
The tire is only defined by the rubber portion.
So the drawing should define the wheel as the same as the rim.
Sorry for any confusion,
Matt
Rim and Wheel are the same thing so my apologies.
Stay Cool
