All,
Our esteemed leader, one N Bradshaw, has asked me to come up with a solution to the DLRA Camp main gen set change over in the event of gen failure or the need to run the smaller gen set if the extra power is not required.
We had occasion, last event, to change over the gen set approx 2100hr one evening due to gen set "A" failure This involved fighting quite large heavy cable and "bodgying" connections, whilst being in a fairly social mood, until the next morning when semi proper repairs could be made. With this in mind I feel with the contacts of our wide and varied expertise's we should be able to come up with a quick and simple solution.
If we could get hold of a 4 pole 150-200amp CHANGE OVER switch. preferably already in an enclosure we could install this between the 2 gensets and this would then be simply a matter of selecting gen set "A" or "B" with the switch.
We would also require approx 15-20 metres of 35mm2 4 core and earth cable for the connection of this.
As I am no longer working (semi retired) I am unable to source any of this anymore but I am sure with the resources of our group somebody should be able to come up with something
PM me if you are able to help in some way.
Cheers,
Trevor

Anybody had any success with this
Re: DLRA Camp gen set
Hi Trev, a quick google search came up with a couple of options perhaps?
Would 4 of these in a box do the trick? I dunno how you calculate the 200 amps you are after, but these switches are 63 amp per phase, so collectively they would be 252 amps??? lol, no idea. Certainly a cheap option if you can make it work?

Or $$$:

It looks like SA power networks sell cable by the meter:

Cheers.
