Trent Clare

Post by Rob »

This just came from Colin Clare via Gary Satara.

I have been in conversation with Colin since the accident. He is wishing to pass on the following information for distribution to the wider audience who are no doubt concerned:

Trent has been without sedation for the last 4 days. His breathing is supported through a tracheotomy & whilst still in a coma he appears calm. Trent has extensive brain damage & we are continuing to support his recovery in ICU.

The family appreciate all the thoughts and prayers but need some time together alone during this difficult time.
I owe, I owe, so off to work I go.

Times like this all else pales into insignificance.
Thoughts and prayers from us all with Trent and with the Clare family. Get well Trent.

To Col, Trevor and all the Clare family. John Lennon once sang "life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans". Nobody could have foreseen what happened that Tuesday but at least you can take some comfort from knowing that the car was well built and Trent was well equipped. Your attention to detail probably saved his life. Thanks also to our medical crew for their heroic efforts. The coming months of Trent's recovery will be taxing but never forget that you have the support of every member of the DLRA and the motorsport community as well. Best wishes to you all from the Chief Starter. I wish I'd had the nous to refuse you permission to start that run.

Thinking of you all at this difficult time. While not religious, we are currently in Spain walking the Camino de Santiago, an ancient Catholic pilgrimage (~1000kms walk). We will keep you in mind and say some prayers for Trent along the Way.

It is terrible that this happens to anyone, but particularly sad to happen to such a wonderful group as the Clare family.

Keep fighting Trent......

I received a message from Colin today to say Trent is still having difficulties of one sort or another. It will be a long and slow process so all our thoughts and prayers will be necessary for some time to come. Colin wishes to thank everyone for their ongoing concern.
