Pre-Race Lake Inspection Report

Post by DLRA »

Michael Brixton, Peter Noy, Korey Bligh and Steve Vorwerk were on the lake today and found it to be in very good condition, hard, dry and flat.
This confirms that Speed Week 2019 is most definitely on.

The two most frequent questions I repeatedly get asked are;
Q1. Will the rains from Queensland flood the lake?
A1. No, they are not even in the same catchment areas and Lake Eyre is lower than Lake Gairdner, so it catches all the water.
Q2. What's the roads like?
A2. The main dirt road from Iron Knob to the turn off was graded a couple of weeks ago and is in good condition. The Mt. Ive Road (from the turn off to the lake) was graded last week, so is also in very good condition. However expect these roads to deteriorate over the week with all the traffic. We will be dragging the roads from the lake to the DLRA camp as required to try and reduce the corrugations. Speed Limit on the Mt. Ive Road is 60 KPH, please keep to the left and obey the speed limits.

The road from the tanks to the DLRA camp has been graded too, best it's ever been .
