There is nothing in the contents listing within the 2022 DLRA Rulebook which refers directly to Impound,,

Hope im not missing something, have read the current 2022 DLRA Rulebook pages 14-16 covering our regulations on/for Australian Records,,

Cant find what, if any changes are allowed once a vehicle has qualified and is in Impound,, all I see is that engine blocks must remain in place, so dose this infer that its open slather on what changes may be made, I would think not,,

A couple of questions, not limited too, but, just asking,, Can we change gearing (chain driven), blistered tyres, ECU tuneup, various body panels(within nominated class requirements) ???

Good questions Ronnie,

As I had a heated discussion at the BMST in 2017 when the official would not let me change the oil in the blown 100cc. He reason was "what if you are putting better oil in it, we dont know what went in", I said "why the #### would we have not run the good shit to qualify?"

Its good to have a firm outline then no one can be called out.

Although having been in impound the last couple of events with limited officials its pretty much an honesty deal anyways.

As there has been no direction on here, I decided to have a look see if there was something buried in the details of the rule book??,,

Had a look at the Job Descriptions, Impound Marshall, two things, #1 Impound Log - thought that may give some direction on what thay have to signoff on, cant access that  ,, #2 we are allowed to "Service" our vehicles ??

Since I run a +200mph motorcycle, tyres are a major concern, so if I blister/shreaded a tyre, can I change it whilst in impound ?

Also I have made a qualifying run during the humidity/heat of the afternoon, backup is in cold/dense air next morning, am I allowed to change the tune in my ECU, or jets in my carbys ?

Bodypanels have an effect on handleing at speeds in excess of 200mph, can I change my ducktail, maybe remove the bellypan (remaining class legal) ?

We work hard all year to prepare our race vehicles,, its a bitter pill to swallor when somewons interpretation of the word "Service" smashes the exhilaration that we have an opptunity to set a potential Australian Record
