Guys and gals
Please do your self a favor while theres still time.
Have a final read of the rule book and make sure you have'nt missed something.
Going through a final check list on the weekend and I realised my roll bar padding was'nt SFI spec, just plumbing insulation.
It would really suck to get knocked back for something that you can't fix at the lake but would cost you 40 bucks at home.
Can't wait Chris

Bugga , never knew you had to have roll bar padding . I never had any in the 3 yrs I raced with a rollbar . Only had 4 not 6 screws holding on moon discs . Harness , racesuit and fire bottle were not up to date last time I raced either . Not all these things I knew until after the event . And I only recently found out I was spose to have 2 fire systems . I wasn,t deliberately trying to cheat the system .
Anyway I survived all that , but it be best that all drivers , car owners be dilligent . All scrutineers and asistants should be fully conversant with all the rules , and that there are rule books in the scrutineering area .

Fire systems
Hi All
Spoke to Bob about this and was wondering if anyone else had aany input....
Our fire bottles need to be stamped. When I spoke to Motor Sport Connections this morning they said that essentially they empty the bottles , physically check them , replace the dip-tube and then refill them.$150.
My supplier can do this, he imported the systems but is not a retailer.
Specifically does the check have to include a hydrostatic pressure check?
Can a "Fire Equipment Specialist" who certifies fire extinguishers do this?
North Terrace told me they can't do Cold Fire because they don't have the right fittings etc......
This all sounds a bit "closed shop" to me....right now I'm not keen on shelling $450 plus freight to Sydney.....

A LITTLE STEP SIDEWAYS HERE . Had one of our scrutineers here at my workshop helping me dispose of surplus goods ( wasn,t needed for the Nissan fleet ) , and looky what I spies next to his trusty one tonner . No wonder he races a Ford .

I am a fire equipment tech. I am able to do AFFF cylinders , but not cold fire as i do not have the ingredients to refill them. All AFFF units must have fresh foam every 12 months, as it does deteriorate. Hydrostatic testing is required every 3 years, due to the harsh vibrations the cylinder is subjected to. Hope this helps.
