Track Markers

1. Description

Track markers are placed on either side of the track surface to assist drivers and riders to stay within the prepared track area.

To volunteer for this job use the Volunteer Register.

 

2. Responsibility

They are placed approximately 200 metres apart to define the edge of the track and consist of 2 plastic poles and a black banner which is placed perpendicular to the track.

 

3. Duties

 

3.1 Volunteer Instructions

On the day of your duty, you report direct to Event Coordinator.

Make sure you sign the Volunteers Book next to your name.

The morning session is from 8.00am to about 12.00 noon.

The afternoon session starts at about 1.00pm till 5.00pm or close of business on that day.

You must be ready to start your shift at these times.

Make sure you have a hat, sunglasses, sun cream, snacks. Water is provided at the Registration Van and there are portable toilets through out the pits. As you will be in your own vehicle and out on the track, I would strongly recommend you have you own esky

4. Tasks

4.1 Setup

  • Collect your equipment and proceed to the edge of the track.
  • One person to remain at the mile marker to sight the flags in a straight line down the edge of the track.
  • Second person to pace down the edge of the track approx 200 metres, they then look back to the first person to be guided on-line
  • Drill first hole and put in pole, then drill second hole and slide on black shade-cloth banner.
  • Pace out another 200 metres, then repeat.

 

4.2 Pack-up

  • Take black shade-cloth off poles and stack flat
  • Remove poles and stack
  • Return all equipment to equipment container

  • Cordless Drill with a 19mm drill bit (to be obtained from event coordinator)
  • Orange plastic conduit (stored in equipment container)
  • Black shade-cloth banners (stored in equipment container)
